A shared mission to bring world-class vanilla cultivation to the Hawaiian Islands — from the Big Island to Maui.

Big Island · The Original
Our sister farm on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi, Hawaiian Vanilla Company, is a pioneer in commercial vanilla production in the United States. For over two decades, they have perfected the delicate craft of growing, hand-pollinating, and curing premium Hawaiian vanilla beans — proving that world-class vanilla can be grown right here in the islands.
Their methods, knowledge, and passion form the foundation of everything we do. The techniques they have refined on the Big Island are the same ones we are bringing to Maui.
A Historic First
Founded in 1998, Hawaiian Vanilla Company is the first commercial vanilla farm in Hawaii — and in the entire United States. They pioneered the cultivation of vanilla in America, proving it could be grown commercially outside of the tropics and establishing a legacy that continues to inspire growers across the islands.

Maui · The Next Chapter
Our new Maui facility was built with a dual purpose: to serve as a resource hub for Maui-based vanilla growers, and to pioneer new cultivation techniques that blend commercial vanilla production with Native Hawaiian tree agroforestry.
By learning from the Big Island's proven commercial model while exploring the untapped potential of growing vanilla beneath native Hawaiian canopy trees, we aim to create a uniquely Maui approach — one that honors the ʻāina and expands what Hawaiian vanilla can be.
Our Goals
At Hawaiian Vanilla Maui, we're not just farming — we're pioneering. Our team is currently researching a new cultivation technique that grows vanilla vines beneath the canopy of native Hawaiian trees, mimicking the plant's natural tropical forest habitat.
Native Hawaiian tree species such as wili wili and ko provide dappled shade, improved soil health, and a thriving microclimate that may prove ideal for vanilla cultivation. This agroforestry approach also supports the restoration of native Hawaiian ecosystems.
We believe this method could redefine how vanilla is grown in Hawaiʻi — producing a bean with deeper complexity while giving back to the ʻāina (land) that makes it all possible.
